Southern Blood Services is a specialty plasma center specializing in the collection of high-quality antibody enriched plasma that is processed into life-saving plasma-based therapies. Our primary focus is collection of these antibodies from individuals who have developed them from pregnancy, blood transfusions and certain vaccines.
Our antibody plasma is used to manufacture drugs such as Rho(D) Immune Globulin (more commonly referred to as RhoGAMŪ ) used to help save the lives of babies whose blood types are incompatible with their mothers (Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn), Anti-Rabies to prevent rabies after exposure and Anti-Hepatitis B to prevent hepatitis B after exposure. Our Red Cell Antibodies are used to manufacture antisera to determine blood types to ensure transfusing blood and organ compatibility.
Southern Blood Services founded in 1999, operates three plasma collection facilities in Birmingham Alabama, Tuscaloosa Alabama, and Nashville Tennessee.
